Storytelling

What is storytelling?

• vivid description of ideas, beliefs, personal experiences and life-lessons through stories or narratives that evoke powerful emotions and insight.

• Social and cultural activity eg. sharing stories, improvisation, connection, intertwined with the development of mythologies

What when does a story become a myth?

Categories:

• fairytales

• folktales

• mythology

• legends

• fables

The storytelling categories have expanded to include representing history, personal narratives, political commentary and evoking cultural norms.

Exploring the concept of storytelling and myths is eluding me at the moment but I think I might explore it through signs and symbolism and see what happens.

Reality Being Unreliable

• figure out how to do 'glitch' / 'world shifting' effect to signify reality shifting or glitching when Main Character is confronted with the personifications of famine, disease, pollution and death.

Existential Dread

• sound design and editing

• maybe do a slow zoom onto 'suspicious' objects like the box or other antiques, to create suspense and foreboding.

Environmental Anxiety

Ideas for the pollution sequence

• maybe film bins?

• Do a stop motion of rubbish building up?

• Cars/exhausts

• Edit into a montage/palimsest

• incorporate text, voiceover, sound design into it.
