I did a shoot with Evie in The Grange cemetry in Edinburgh. The idea was to explore 'Ancient Pandora' and the image of her painted in Pre-Raphaelite paintings. Our reference point was the painting Pandora by John William Waterhouse and we took it from there. Evie Siddal is a fantastic fine art model, so I'm really happy I got to work with them on this. We both love all things Pre-Raphaelite and Evie really enjoys shoots with this as a reference point, so it was a enjoyable creative project all round.


As I want to experiment with mixed media in my film going forward, I brought my Miranda 35mm camera with me. It was my grandfathers, so it's pushing 75 years now, which gives the images I take with it this atmospheric quality I really love. In my photography practice, I am quite influenced by Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron with the beautiful light quality and atmosphere she creates in her photographs. As you can see, the composition is beautifully arranged with subtle lighting and strong direction.
