'Pandora' Pitch Deck and Teaser

Pitch:

Pandora is a surrealist folk-horror exploring Climate Change through the relationship between humans and nature, taking inspiration from the ancient myth of Pandora’s Box.

As far as I’m concerned, the biggest issue of our time is the Climate Crisis, which has gone from speculation to reality in my lifetime. With this inspiration and my love of mythology, this film is taking inspiration from a classic Greek myth, reframed for the modern day all whilst referencing the Climate Crisis. The film is about a young woman who was compelled to open a box. She was drawn to it in a trance, called by some unseen force. What follows is a series of increasingly disturbing events that make her question her sanity and reality. Through allegory and juxtaposition, the film will prompt the viewer to consider things in life that are politically overlooked, famine, overconsumption, waste, pollution, disease, and death. While there is a narrative, it is loose and open to interpretation.

The project is a high-concept, low-budget production which will rely on sound design and production design to enhance the narrative. I will direct, edit, and shoot the film and I have started to build a small team of creatives who will work with me on this. I am starting with an illustrated script to plan out the film’s narrative structure, which will give me a good starting point to then develop my ideas and introduce experimentation.
