I'm liking the pacing, perhaps can make it build slower at the beginning so it doesn't run out of steam too quickly.
Finally thinking 'non-chronologically' - taking inspiration from 'Redoubt' in how to assimilate the sequence. Shots are talking to each other and referencing each other, taking on board Callum's advice with this and his techniques.
The membranes look so cool and better than I was envisioning. The group work and singular performer shots compliment each other really nicely. Cutting between group 'entity' mass of oozing movement and singular, increasing pace, whirlwind of solo performer. The increase in movement help build tension, I think, as do solo membrane shots. There's a really nice thing happening in the space that these shots create. Recognition in the shapes through the membrane, and revulsion at the hands, knee, face pressing up against it. The shadows and movements give this organic quality that triggers the digust reflex.
Hands in slow motion pressing up to the membrane look really nice, and creepy.
Faces rising and falling looks good as well, its communicating the idea i have that these bodies are part of this larger organic entity. It feels like a heartbeat, a pulsing life force.
Hands punching through the membrane isn't as impactful as I would like - I might need to figure out to emphasise this, perhaps with some sort of footage manipulation.
Membrane 'sea' is very effective, especially how it's lit. I can see this being very impactful on a large screen.
Short bursts of group movement cutting into the slower footage working nicely, feels like glimpses of later on. Messing with chronology. Can perhaps have 2-3 moments of this earlier on and then second half this becomes more of a chaotic onslaught.
Alluding to this earlier on rather than bringing it in too soon. Having this forwards and backwards thing happening helps me reject chronology and any sort of 'timeline / plot'.
